German carmaker BMW is set to introduce its new 2-Series Coupe in Australia from March 2014.
The new model is the successor of 1-Series Coupe and will be available in three versions, the 220i, the 220d and the M235i.
The BMW 220i Coupe is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder engine with 135 kW and 270 Nm of torque. It can offer a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds.
Equipped with a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder diesel engine, the 220d Coupe is powered 135 kW and 380 Nm of torque, offering 0 to100 km/h acceleration in 7.1 seconds.
The M235i is powered by a 3.0L inline-six unit, with 240 kW and 450 Nm of torque. It can offer 0 to 100 km/h speed in 4.8 seconds.
BMW Group Australia product communications manager Scott Croaker was quoted by motoring.com.au as saying that there was big interest in the go-fast M235i model but in the 2 Series range they will see good volume from the 220i.
"We have good supply out of the factory and we don't foresee big wait lists," Croaker added.
