Volvo Cars of North America has recalled 30,929 S60 vehicles of certain model year 2011-2012 in the US, as the vehicle may not alert the driver of a low oil pressure situation.
These vehicles were manufactured from 22 June 2010, through 14 May 2012 and equipped with 5-cylinder B5254T5 engines.
If the driver is not warned of the low oil pressure situation, he may continue to drive the vehicle until it stalls, which increases the risk of a crash.
Dealers of the carmaker will update the vehicle's software so that the driver is alerted should there be a low oil pressure situation, free of charge. The company will notify the owners of the affected vehicles.
In September 2013, Volvo recalled 7,767 vehicles in the US over two different issues that would affect the batteries.
The recall affected 2014 model year vehicles including the S60 and S80 sedans as well as the XC60 and XC70 crossovers, all of which are equipped with keyless ignition.
