PepsiCo Foods Canada will receive $3m in investment from the government of Ontario to revamp its manufacturing plant in Cambridge.
The investment will be used to upgrade the food processing facility to meet world-class food safety standards in seasoning and delivery and improve product quality. The plant will also be modified to accommodate a high-speed packaging system in the future.
This facility employs over 550 people and manufactures Frito-Lay products.
The Cambridge plant is currently involved in packaging and contract manufacturing and procures local raw materials, primarily potatoes, from Alliston and Leamington.
Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne said: "A strong agri-food sector is crucial for ensuring strong and prosperous rural communities across Ontario.
"By investing in this vital sector today, our government is making sure the agri-food sector plays a key role in Ontario's economy for years to come."
The investment is being provided through the Rural Economic Development program.
