Opel Australia is offering driveaway pricing across its entire vehicle line-up and has introduced a new 24-hour test drive program to give prospective customers more time behind the wheel.
The German brand’s pricing offer sees the city-sized Opel Corsa now start from $16,990 driveaway, the Opel Astra hatch from $22,990 driveaway, and the mid-sized Opel Insignia from $39,990 driveaway.
A disclaimer on Opel Australia’s public website explains the driveaway pricing offer applies to vehicles sold and delivered by February 28, while stocks last at participating dealers.
The 24-hour test drive offer, which Opel is calling its ‘German Exchange Program’, allows approved drivers (learner and probationary licence holders excluded) to take a demo vehicle home overnight to spend more time with it before purchasing.
Opel Australia managing director Bill Mott said the combination of the two new offers should give the fledgling local division momentum for a strong year in 2013.
“We’ve had a lot of feedback from customers that it is hard to get a real feel for a vehicle when you take it out on such a short test drive from the dealership,” Mott said.
“Our German Exchange Program gives the customers the opportunity to live and experience our cars in their own environment.”
Opel sold 541 vehicles – 365 Astras, 111 Insignias, 65 Corsas – in Australia in 2012 following the opening of showrooms in September.
Opel Australia will expand its range in March when it adds sporty OPC variants of its three model lines.
