Global PV Installation Capacity Will Be Roughly Equal to The Annual Global Crystalline

The total capacity of new PV systems installed around the world in 2013 is estimated at 34GWp, growing 9.7% on year, and global installation capacity is expected to rise to 40GWp in 2014 and further to 60GWp in 2015, according to the Bureau of Energy (BOE) under Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).

Global PV installation capacity in 2014 will be roughly equal to the annual global crystalline silicon solar cell output, implying balance between supply and demand, BOE indicated. However, supply is likely to be short of demand in 2015, BOE said. Therefore, the mid- to long-term business outlook for Taiwan's PV industry is not pessimistic, BOE emphasized.
