Avery Dennison Has Unveiled a New Technology

Global manufacturer and distributor of pressure-sensitive adhesive materials, Avery Dennison has unveiled a new technology, TurnLock Laminating System that allows converters to produce protected graphics with 30% less material and eliminates the need for an over-laminate or transfer tape.

Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials, North America durables segment director Mark Pickner said by using common print techniques and a turn bar, the company has fundamentally changed how converters can print and protect durable goods graphics.

"What previously took two rolls now only takes one roll, and offers the same protective performance expected of labels today," Pickner said.

The savings and improvements with the new technology include transition to a single input roll resulting in faster changeovers, improved splicing and less butt roll waste; elimination of common over-lamination failures; and production of a thinner gauge label and less material usage.

The TurnLock Laminating System has two product specifications that are available for use including Spec 78947 - 2 Mil CL PET TCRC/S8015LW/50# MF and Spec 78948 - 2 Mil CL PET TCRC/S8015LW/50# MF.

Currently available in North America only, TurnLock allows converters to produce white, black and metallized PET colors while on press. The system will be distributed in additional regions in the upcoming months.
