US-based uniform company Cintas Corporation has developed new line of shirts made from recycled plastic bottles for casino workers.
The company uses technology that convert plastics into a fibre that can then be woven into fabric to make the shirts.
Cintas said nearly five plastic bottles are needed to create one shirt, most of which is still manufactured from traditional polyester. The firm said the shirts can be washed in regular laundry that will help to reduce dry-cleaning costs.
The firm said that U.S. consumers throw away an estimated 2.5 million plastic bottles per hour and the shirts can be a solution to reduce the bottles from going into landfill.
Cintas gaming global account manager Mark Newell said that some shirts made from recycled bottles can themselves be recycled.
