Hearts of Romaine Over Listeria Contamination Is Recalled by Taylor Farms Retail

Taylor Farms Retail is recalling 110 cases of Taylor Farms Hearts of Romaine in the US, as the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall has been initiated after a single random finished package test by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revealed a positive result for Listeria monocytogenes.

The product affected by this recall is Taylor Farms Hearts of Romaine,10 oz bag, bearing a UPC Number 0 30223 04032 3, and a best buy date of 12-13-12. It was distributed in California and Florida.

Taylor Farms Retail noted that it is cooperating with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regarding this recall.

There have been no reports of illnesses linked to the consumption of this product. No other Taylor Farms products or brands are included in this recall. Customers who have purchased this product have been urged not to consume the product, but to dispose it.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious or life-threatening food borne illness in a person who consumes a food item contaminated with it. Symptoms of infection may include fever, muscle aches, gastro intestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea.
