Australian miner BHP Billiton has announced that it has suspended production at its smallest iron ore mine Yarrie in Western Australia as an additional productivity measure, until further notice.
The company said that the employees at the Yarrie operation will be relocated to the Jimblebar iron ore project.
BHP Billiton also stated that the Orebody 18 iron ore site which has been operated by Macmahon since January 2007 will become a BHP Billiton operation by the end of the financial year in June, in line with the company's decision to move its Western Australia Iron Ore business to a 100 percent owner-operated model.
