German automotive manufacturer Daimler reportedly in talks with British sports car manufacturer Aston Martin for technical and supply cooperation.
The move is part of the UK automaker's plan to seek an industrial partner to compete against rival companies by lowering cost for developing new models.
Daimler spokeswoman Silke Walters was cited by Bloomberg as saying: "While both sides know and respect each other very much, no decisions have been made."
The talks also involve Aston Martin owners Investindustrial Advisers, which has 35% stake, and Investment Dar.
Claimed to be the only global luxury-auto brand without any tie ups with a larger manufacturing group, Aston Martin revealed plans to invest about GBP500m in the coming four years in its new product and technology programme.
The programme is aimed at competing with Fiat's Ferrari and Maserati and Volkswagen's Bentley.
