The Hertz Corporation’s green traveler collection fleet will now include the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid in a few cities across the US.
The car which can easily switch between a gasoline engine and an electric motor has been rated at 40 mpg within city and 44 mpg on highway.
The company's green traveller collection offers a line of hybrid, electric and clean diesel vehicles with high-fuel efficiency. All the cars in the collection have fuel efficiency ratings starting at 33+ highway mpg.
The car also features a 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback for flexible loading. The battery is fitted below the trunk floor to provide unobstructed loading space.
Hertz fleet and procurement vice president Tom Frese said: "Hertz is always looking for opportunities to improve and grow our sustainability efforts, as well as provide customers vehicle rental options that are fuel efficient, so we're excited to add the newly redesigned Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to our green fleet."
The cars will be available for rent at airports including Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dulles International and Chicago along with San Jose, San Diego and Long Beach in California, Portland, Oregon and Denver.
