The ceremony of the first float-glass shipping was held on the 20th December 2012 from the new Guardian plant – Guardian Steklo Rostov. Salable glass is shipped 10 days later when the first glass has already gone out of the furnace. This process is called Ribbon Pull, this means that molten glass from the furnace runs out in the bath with melted tin, then it goes to the traveling belt.
The next phase of the project will be done in the second quarter of 2013. The start of magnetron nano evaporation line is planned for this period. The production of such products as high-quality energy-efficient glass ClimaGuard®, solar-control and multifunctional SunGuard® and ClimaGuard® Solar. LLC Guardian Steklo Rostov is the most prominent project in 80-year Guardian global history. Total investment is going to go beyond 8 billion rubles and the output of float line is going to be 900 tons per twenty four hours. The total number of employees at the plant is about 260. When the second phase of the project is finished the amount of the plant staff will be above 300 employees and about 700 jobs will be created in the contiguous companies.
The Rostov plant is the second Guardian project in Russia. The first one is successfully launched in Ryazan.
