Arla Foods Ingredients has opened its new €120m lactose manufacturing plant in Jutland, Denmark.
Located next to Arla's whey processing facility Denmark Protein, the new factory is expected to produce 80,000t of lactose per year.
Arla Foods Ingredients Permeate & Lactose Business sales director Luis Cubel said: "Our new lactose factory in Jutland is part of our drive to keep pace with growth in demand for high quality lactose in the infant nutrition sector.
The factory will produce premium 'dry blend' lactose. Primarily, products from the factory will be supplied to the infant nutrition sector.
Arla Foods Ingredients CEO Henrik Andersen stated: "The future direction of our business is about meeting demand in growth segments. Where it is necessary, we are not afraid to invest in the production facilities required to do that, as this modern facility demonstrates."
