Bobst, a Swiss company that provides machinery and services to the packaging industry, will open a new production site and Competence Center in Changzhou, China.
The new site, a greenfield facility in Changzhou in the Jiangsu province of China, will be dedicated to web-fed printing and converting technologies for flexible materials.
The opening of the new plant will mark a major step in the company’s next phase of the development of activities for the Asian flexible packaging industry.
The new plant will feature the group’s highest Bobst manufacturing standards in its delocalized production plants and for the development of gravure printing and lamination solutions for the region’s specific requirements and industry practices.
Bobst web-fed business unit business director in Southeast Asia Sebastien Geffrault said: “The success in the region of the RS 5002 gravure press and the CL 750 laminators owes to the fact that they combine the unrivalled quality of the Bobst engineering and the reliable and efficient manufacturing experience and capabilities of Bobst local plants.
“The other factor, which is a distinctive feature of Bobst technology worldwide, is the flexibility of the equipment in terms of options such as the inking system and the drying that can be customized for geographically located consumable types and process preferences.”
The company will also open a Competence Center that will be part of the Bobst Changzhou facility.
The center will provide support and advice to Asian clients throughout gravure printing and lamination trial runs.
Joint development of process improvements with other suppliers of equipment, devices and consumables, as well as R&D and testing of Bobst own equipment will also be taken up at the center.
The inauguration event, ‘China 4.0 – Beyond your packaging future’, will be followed by Open House events on May 17 and 18.
