According to the data released by market research firm NPD Group, in 2012, Apple accounted for 19.9% of the total revenue of the U.S. consumer electronics products, higher than the 17.3% in 2011, and also much higher than the Samsung's market share (9.3%). HP's share was 8.2%, Sony was 4.4% and Dell was 3% respectively.
In the U.S., Apple is the third-largest consumer electronics retailer following Best Buy and Wal-Mart, followed by Amazon and Staples, which ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
