South Korean automobile major Hyundai has updated its Blue Link app for Apple Watch, enabling car owners to execute a range of activities such as door locking and engine starting, through their smartphones or smartwatches.
The Blue Link app, incorporating the companion for Apple Watch, is already up for free download.
Riding high on cloud-based platform, the application makes it possible to start the vehicle remotely and view service information via smartwatches and smartphones.
An owner just needs to push the microphone on the watch and issue commands such as 'Start my car,' 'Lock my car' or 'Find my car.' Other voice activated features of the app include Remote Engine Stop, Remote Door Lock / Unlock, Remote Flash Lights / Honk Horn, Car Finder, Vehicle Status and Parking Meter.
Models including the 2015 Genesis, Sonata and Azera by the automaker are set to incoporate the next generation Blue Link.
Hyundai Motor America executive vice president Frank Ferrara said: "Giving customers more ways to connect with their cars is what it is all about.
"The Blue Link Apple Watch app complements all of our other high-tech features. Drivers can get into a Sonata today and find iPhone integration, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection and a smart trunk that will open automatically when you stand behind it."
The Blue Link Apple Watch app can integrate with the first and next generation Hyundai models backed by the technology. The first generation of such system was introduced and supplied to 2012 Sonata and later extended across variants during 2013.
