Maserati has announced details of its 2014 centenary celebrations, with a series of events themed on the company's 'the absolute opposite of ordinary' philosophy.
The centenary celebrations will take place in all major Maserati markets around the world, and will build towards the final few months of 2014, when Maserati will return to Italy for two major events.
To kickstart celebrations, Maserati will launch a book, called 'Maserati – A Century of History', during an event held at the company's Modena headquarters. The book is divided into three sections, covering 100 years of Maserati's history, model range and motorsport pursuits.
Next, from September 19-21, Maserati will host an official gathering of its vehicles in Modena, with an estimated 250 models expected to convene. The three-day event will include drives on scenic roads tied to Maserati's history, as well as several racetrack sessions.
Finally, Maserati will curate an exhibition at the Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari, with a display of Maserati's most iconic models, including both passenger and race cars.
Maserati has also revealed a special 'Centennial Edition' logo, which places its iconic Trident emblem – designed by one of the original Maserati brothers, and inspired by the Neptune fountain in downtown Bologna – at the centre of a medallion-style badge.
The centenary coincides with Maserati's rapid growth on the back of rising orders for its models, including the sixth-generation Quattraporte and new Ghibli?sedans. The company says it sees 2014 as the start of a new era for Maserati, which will be guided by its new governing policy, 'the opposite of ordinary'.
