US-based injection molding and plasics packaging firm Berry Plastics has completed the acquisition of Frans Nooren Beheer companies, which include STOPAQ, an anti-corrosive coatings and sealants firm, for undisclosed amount.
Earlier in June, Berry announced its intention to buy the business units of Frans Nooren Beheer BV. Stopaq makes proprietary viscoelastic materials that are used in corrosion prevention and insulation applications. Headquartered in Stadskanaal, The Netherlands, STOPAQ has a manufacturing plant, which includes R&D facilities, an anti-corrosion Technology Park, and Centre of Excellence training and exhibition facilities.
Berry's Engineered Materials Division president Tom Salmon said that the combination of STOPAQ with Berry's existing corrosion protection group will allow for solutions unrivalled by competitors in the market space.
Berry Plastics' Corrosion Protection Group is a part of the company's Engineered Materials Division with over five decades of experience in oil, gas, water, wastewater, and insulated pipelines protection.
Stopaq CEO Frits Doddema said that as the integration process is initiated, possibilities of utilizing combined resources of both businesses to the maximum will also be explored.
"Most importantly, the research strengths of the combined companies will allow for new innovation and new products utilizing the best features of all products across the group. This combination is a real "Crowning Moment" for all we have built over the last years at STOPAQ," added Doddema.
Doddema, with immediate effect, would take charge as executive vice president and general manager of the Berry's Corrosion Protection Group.
