US Foods has opened a new distribution center in Seabrook, in the US state of New Hampshire, a move that will allow the company to cater to 3,000 customers throughout the New England.
Said to be LEED-certified, the new 500,000ft2 facility features energy efficient lighting and a cascade refrigeration system that uses CO2 as a refrigeration fluid in place of ammonia, while reducing environmental impact and increasing energy efficiency.
With around 300 employees, the facility also includes a fleet fueling and maintenance area.
US Foods Boston Division president John Glynn said: "The new efficient and modern facility allows us to better serve our approximately 3,000 customers throughout the New England area and provides the nearly 300 employees in the location with an optimal working environment.
"We are thrilled to join the Seabrook business community and continue to bring our innovative products and business solutions to chefs, restaurant owners and foodservice operators throughout the area."
US Foods is a foodservice distributor and offers an array of fresh, frozen and dry food, and non-food products with approximately 350,000 stock-keeping units.
Its principal product categories include meats and seafood; dry grocery products; refrigerated and frozen grocery products; equipment, disposables, and supplies; dairy; produce; and beverage products.
