Mercedes-Benz, an arm of German automobile manufacturer Daimler, has added a Coupé to its C-Class breed, armed with dynamically configured chassis and optional air suspension.
While its lightweight feature is said to offer an aerodynamic edge, the new Coupé is said to be 60mm longer than its predecessor between the firewall and front axle alone.
The suspension is 15mm lower than that of the Saloon and the vehicle displays more shoulder room, elbow room and headroom in all seats.
Daimler Board of Management member Thomas Weber said: "Our new C-Class Coupé continues the philosophy of our exciting coupés. It combines thrilling design with agile sportiness and modern luxury. The C-Class Coupé therefore clearly pledges itself to stylish driving enjoyment."
The vehicle also has a new 4-link front axle with wheel suspension decoupled from the spring strut allowing the suspension to respond more sensitively to steering movements. The Coupé also flaunts steel suspension.
Besides, the driver can also select modes as 'eco', 'comfort', 'sport', 'sport+' and 'individual' via DYNAMIC SELECT Switch.
With initially four petrol engines available for the Coupé, the power spectrum ranges from the 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine in the C 180 with 115kW/156 hp to the two-litre C 200 (135 kW/184 hp) and C 250 (155 kW/211 hp) models and the C 300.
The Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive concept also features ATTENTION ASSIST that can warn the driver of inattentiveness , while COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS provides an acoustic warning for the driver at speeds above 7km/h.
