US-based food processor and distributor Golden State Foods has acquired a McDonald's distribution center in Lebanon, Illinois from Gateway Distribution for an undisclosed amount.
The facility serves more than 350 McDonald's restaurants in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Indiana and Kentucky.
The distribution center employs 160 associates, which increases GSF's total workforce to nearly 4,500 worldwide.
With this acquisition GSF's annual sales are expected to be around $6bn.
The acquisition is a part of GSF's efforts to maximize efficiencies and strengthen the distribution network within the McDonald's system.
Golden State Foods chairman and chief executive officer Mark Wetterau said that the company is seeking to combine the long-standing traditions established by Gateway with GSF, and continue its partnership with McDonald's as GSF expands throughout the Midwest.
Golden State Foods, founded in 1947, is a diversified supplier of processed liquid, meat, produce and bakery products to the quick service restaurant industry. The company services more than 25,000 stores in 50 countries from its 38 locations on six continents.
