Honda's luxury Acura brand is launching the 2018 MDX Sport Hybrid, a sport utility with support for Apple CarPlay, in the US.
The 2018 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid boasts an upgraded user interface and additional in-vehicle technology plus two new exterior colors, Basque Red Pearl II and San Marino Red.
Pricing starts at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $52,100 (excluding $995 destination and handling).
The SUV is powered by 3 liter VTEC V6 engine and three-motor Sport Hybrid Super All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. The engine produces 257 hp and 218 lb-ft of torque.
The front engine electric motor generates 47hp and 109 lb-ft of torque and dual rear motors, each generate about 36hp and 54lb-ft of torque. Combined with the electric motors, the SUV produces 321hp with a torque of 289 lb-ft.
Power produced from the engine is transmitted through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT). It has 4-mode integrated Dynamics System with SPORT+ mode, Active Dampers, Electric Servo Brake System.
The company stated that every MDX Sport Hybrid comes equipped with AcuraWatch, a suite of safety and driver assistance technologies including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
The SUV is equipped with features such as rain-sensing wipers, power folding side view mirrors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross path detection, AcuraLink with navigation and more.
The high-end version includes additional features such as heated and ventilated front seats, second row heated seats, heated steering wheel, second row sun shades, third row USB charge ports, LED fog lamps, auto dimming side mirrors, surround view camera, natural wood accents, perforated leather upholstery along with 20-inch wheels.
These features will be additional to the features available in the ‘Technology Package’ version. The Advance Package version is priced at $59,145 including destination charges.
