Orange County Clothing Company (OCCC) is a local / grass roots clothing line created by long-time Huntington Beach resident, Seth Matson. OCCC focuses mostly on cool and fun tees, hoodies, hats and art which embody the So-Cal, OC beach lifestyle. All of the clothing and art is created in and by Orange County residents, resembling styles like other popular OC brand names at a killer low price.
OCCC’s product line is comparable to the styles of billion dollar industry leaders like Quiksilver, Billabong, Hurley, Volcom, Roxy & RVCA all businesses created in Orange County, CA, the hub for the sports industry.
By focusing primarily on a digital presence, OCCC has streamlined its approach to offer an e-commerce experience that’s a snap to use. With fast and easy navigation and great imagery, OCCC utilizes a super simple one-page checkout system that accepts both credit card and Paypal.
OCCC’s designs are all created locally. With a wide offering of tees for guys, girls, kids, toddlers, babies, Matson also incorporated an interesting array of art, hoodies, hats, beanies, sunglasses, books, DVD’s, stickers and more. What makes OCCC unique is that all the products are local and come from Orange County residents.
Matson notes "This is a brand for your next door neighbor. Everyone has a next door neighbor. We have something for everyone from moms and dads to kids to babies. I feel that Orange County is lacking in Local Grass Roots Clothing companies. I wanted to create something that the artists of Orange County could be involved with and feel proud to show off their talents on the tees. I’ve been designing t-shirts for companies for 15 plus years now.”
“My first t-shirt design was for Billabong back in the eighties. It became one of their best sellers that year according to Mike Lesher – VP of Sales. It’s fun wearing your own t-shirt designs around town and having people comment how much they like them. I’m excited to watch OCCC grow over the next few years.”
With a history in the surf community that encompasses his entire life, Matson, a surfer since his own grommet days at the HB Pier, surfed on the Huntington Beach High School Surf Team and has worked for top clothing manufacturers Billabong and Hurley. He then branched off to start up his first entrepreneurial startup – The Huntington Beach Pro/Am Surf Series.
Matson sat in as the Vice Chair of the Huntington Beach Surfrider Foundation in 2011 and currently serves on the board of directors for the non-profit foundation Surfers for Cetaceans. He is also the associate producer on the Award Winning Documentary, Minds in the Water.
Matson, an artist at heart, obtained a degree in graphic design, which he utilized intensely with the Pro/Am Surf Series, and then moved on to form his own graphic design business, Matson Graphics, where he has helped many small businesses grow successful with his savvy design skills and web knowledge.
