$360, 000 for Hurricane Sandy Relief Is Raised by Hudson' Bay

Hudson’s Bay Company announced a total donation of $360,000 in monetary fund’s and product to support those impacted by Hurricane Sandy, including the 35 Lord & Taylor Associates who lost their own homes and /or major possessions, thanks  to the combined efforts of Associates and customers across North America.

The donation includes more than$200,000 in cash donations from Associates to a special fund for impacted colleagues, as well as an $8,500 cash donation from customers to the Canadian Red Cross and a $155,000 in-kind donation of Home Studio product to help communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Associates in stores and head office locations came together to hold bake sales, raffles, garage sales and sample sales to help raise funds for their fellow colleagues and communities impacted. One store even donated their entire holiday party fund to the cause. The company ran a “Donate your HBC Rewards points” program, where Associates and customers donated their Rewards points in stores, by phone and online toward the relief efforts.
