BMW Group and auto parts supplier Continental AG are developing unmanned vehicles. The main purpose of the research collaboration is to prepare for the 2020 autopilot technology application.
Bilateral cooperation project starts from early 2013 to the end of 2014, focusing on the launch of the "high degree of automation in the highway manipulation prototype car. The car will also be tested on the European road.
BMW said its unmanned vehicle once traveled around the Nurburgring, Germany as early as 2009, and in 2011, it tested the research prototype on autopilot.
