33, 139 Child Restraints Will Be Recalled by Combi USA in US

Automotive seats maker Combi USA has issued a voluntary recall on 33,139 child restraints of certain model year stating that the harness webbing of the seats fail to meet breaking strength requirements.

As a result, the child seats fail to comply to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 213, Child Restraint Systems. A child may not be remain adequately secured, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The 8220 Coccoro child restraints were manufactured from 6 January 2009, through 5 December 2012; the 8836 Zeus 360 model child restraints were manufactured from 25 February 2009, through 24 May 2012; and the 8815 Zeus Turn model child restraints were manufactured from 15 July 2007, through 25 March 2009.

Combi will notify registered owners and provide free harness replacement kits along with repair instructions. The recall is expected to begin by 6 February 2014. The seats can continue to be used until the kits are made available.
