Nestlé has inaugurated a new CHF73m ($80.7m) manufacturing facility in Vyazniki, Vladimir, Russia, to produce and distribute Maggi products across the nation and other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.
With this project the company is continuing to strengthen its presence in Europe, besides creating more than 600 jobs.
The factory is set to produce around 30,000t of Maggi products, including seasonings, sauces, instant soups, bouillons and purees each year.
First phase of operations at the site commenced with the filling and packing of Maggi culinary products in 2012 to meet the demand for Maggi products.
Nestlé Zone Europe head Laurent Freixe said, "Nestlé has confirmed its long-term commitment to Russia and its consumers by continuing to invest in the development of its production capacities, and introducing advanced technologies in its food production."
"With this new factory, Nestlé is opening a new chapter for the Maggi business and is setting a new standard for technology in culinary production in Russia," he added.
Earlier this year, Nestlé said that it will invest CHF93m in a new factory and distribution center in Poland, and more than CHF29m to strengthen its supply chain in Russia. These are a series of investments Nestlé has made in Europe over the past few years.
In June, the company started the construction of a €220m Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee capsules facility in Germany, the biggest ever investment in the continent.
Over the past 17 years, Nestlé has invested more than $1.5bn in its manufacturing and distribution facilities in Russia. The company offers ice cream, coffee, confectionery, infant cereals, and culinary product brands in the country.
