Liquid and powder coating supplier, Axalta Coating Systems has announced a plan to invest $10.5 m in Tlalnepantla operations center in Mexico, to improve its capacity to produce resins, which is used to make transportation coatings.
The Tlalnepantla facility already makes coatings which are used by automotive OEM and heavy duty truck manufacturers.
It produces coatings under the Standox, Spies Hecker and Cromax brands.
Axalta Latin America president Jorge Cossio said, "This investment underscores the company's commitment to support our continued growth in Mexico with locally produced coatings."
"The investment will support Axalta customers in the light vehicle OEM and commercial transportation markets.
"In addition to manufacturing products for Mexico, the expansion also allows Axalta to better serve the broader Americas market."
