Plastic Omnium Auto Exteriors Will Invest $65m to Establish a New Facility

France based automotive plastics manufacturer Plastic Omnium Auto Exteriors will invest $65m to establish a new facility in Enterprise South Industrial Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The new facility will be built on a 21 acre site, which is located in the vicinity of a tier one supplier for Volkswagen and other major automotive manufacturer in Southeast.

Plastic Omnium's Chattanooga facility will produce injection molding, painting and assembly of automobile exterior components such as bumpers and fenders.

Plastic Omnium Auto Exteriors Americas president and CEO Marc Cornet said Chattanooga is an ideal location for Plastic Omnium to serve the automotive industry in the Southeast.

"We appreciate our partnership with both local and state officials, who are working closely with us to establish this new operation," Cornet added.

Plastic Omnium will primarily start manufacturing products for the production at Volkswagen Chattanooga and plans to expand its reach to Ford, GM, Honda, Mercedes, Nissan and Toyota.

Expected to commence production in 2015, the new facility will initially create 184 new jobs and plasn expand its payroll to include 300 people within three years of opening.
