Solar cell conductive paste maker Giga Solar expects a pick-up in sales in the fourth quarter of 2012,powered by a rebound of capacity utilization rates of solar cell makers in Taiwan and China,according to company chairman Chen Chi-jen.
Taiwan-based solar cell makers are currently operating at 50-80%of their capacity,while rival companies in China are mostly running at 30-70%,said Chen,adding that he expects the overall capacity utilization rate of the solar industry to gradually improve in October or November along with the inventory digestion processes at makers.
Being a supplier of aluminum pastes and silver aluminum pastes for some time,Giga Solar has also begun producing silver pastes since the second half of 2012 with accumulated shipments totaling 10,000 tons thus far,Chen indicated.
The company also started shipping its newly developed G3+high-efficiency solar wafers in September and expects sales of the new product to contribute more to revenue growth in October and account for 40-50% of total sales in the month,Chen said.
