Corby Spirit and Wine has agreed to acquire the spirit assets of Domaine Pinnacle for C$12m ($9.2m).

The transaction, which is expected to complete by the end of this month, includes Domaines Pinnacle's spirits portfolio of Canadian brands, including the Ungava Premium Canadian gin brand, Chic Choc spiced rum.

It also features a range of maple-based liqueurs including Coureur des Bois and Cabot Trail, as well as related production assets and inventory.

Domaine Pinnacle, a Cowansville, Quebec-based spirits and cider producer was established in 2000 by Charles Crawford and Susan Reid. The company began as a cider business and later expanded to include distillation and production of artisanal spirits.

At present, Domaine Pinnacle’s products are available in over 50 countries. The deal does not include Domaine Pinnacle’s cider business

Crawford will join Corby and become president of its new subsidiary, Ungava Spirits, which will continue to operate from Cowansville, Quebec.

Corby president and CEO Patrick O'Driscoll said: “The agreement to purchase Domaine Pinnacle's spirits portfolio demonstrates that we are committed to developing new income streams with the addition an entrepreneurial unit to our existing strategies of innovation, export and base brand rejuvenation."
