Food and beverage company PepsiCo is launching a new range of gluten-free oatmeal in its Quaker Oats product line across the US.
The new Quaker Gluten Free Oatmeal will be introduced in three variants namely Quaker Quick 1-Minute Standard Oats (18 oz. canister) and Quaker Instant Oatmeal (single-serve pouches) in both Original and Maple & Brown Sugar flavors.
The company claims that the gluten-free variants are developed to offer enhanced energy through the day, fiber to provide a full feeling, and whole grains to aid heart health.
Quaker Foods senior vice president Becky Frankiewicz said: "At Quaker, we're always striving to deliver products that meet families' evolving needs. Requests for gluten free oats have been among the top inquiries from our consumers for the past several years.
"Our expert millers are the best and most passionate in the business, and they've taken the time and extreme care to develop great-tasting, gluten free offerings in which consumers can be confident."
Though oats are free of gluten naturally, stray wheat, rye, barley could have been introduced during processes such as farming, storing, and transportation. To avoid this problem, the company claims to use expertise to eliminate the stray grains in order to produce gluten-free oats that adhere to FDA standards.
Beginning January 2016, Quaker Gluten Free Oats have become available throughout US. The product joins the brand's Select Starts line, which features Instant Quaker Oatmeal offerings that caters to health-conscious consumers by claiming to offer fiber and protein.
Quaker Gluten Free Quick 1-Minute Oats (18 oz. canister) is priced at $3.99 and the Quaker Gluten Free Instant Oatmeal (Original and Maple & Brown Sugar varieties) is available for $4.19.
