When compared to previous models, the new Prius has longer and sleeker sides giving the car an athletic shape.

It is 2.4 inches longer, 0.6 inches wider and 0.8 inches lower than its predecessor 2015 Prius.

Toyota has lowered the hood of the vehicle, moved the roof peak forward, and also fitted it with standard LED headlamps, which minimizes the Prius' front profile.

The rear part of the car features combination of lamps that express the distinctive lines of the Prius, from the rear spoiler to the trailing edges of the sides.

Toyota Prius' interior is designed to provide comfort and functionality with wrap-around dash design, comfortable seats, easy controls and improved visibility.

Built on Toyota's New Global Architecture (TNGA), the car will have improved vehicle performance and enhanced product appeal.

Some of the safety features include Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Automatic High Beams.

Toyota Division general manager Bill Fay said: "Prius set the global benchmark for hybrids, but now is breaking its own boundaries with more engaging style and fun-to-drive dynamics,"

"What was once a rational purchase that for many customers focused on fuel economy, is now so much more. This Prius will invite new drivers into the category by delivering an impressive look and feel, built on the foundation of safety and eco-consciousness that define the vehicle's heritage."

Toyota had launched the original Prius in 1997 and so far sold 3.5 million vehicles.

Revamped Prius will complement its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle Mirai and hit the stores early next year.

Toyota launched TGNA to build better cars by standardizing parts across models by blending planning and design. The initiative was launched to improve the efficiency of the development process and reduce cost.
