UK-based independent grocery brand Budgens has launched Jamie Oliver meals in stores.
Three meals from the celebrity chef's Keep it Simple ready to cook range were introduced at the start of June. This is the first time Budgens has stocked Jamie Oliver meal solutions within Meat, Fish & Poultry.
Charlotte Tyne, Trading Manager for Meat, Fish & Poultry at Budgens said: "We've seen a real increase in the demand for more premium 'meal for tonight' solutions that are ready to cook, quick and tasty. It's not about ready meals in the traditional sense, but about great meat or fish and sauce combinations that can be put in the oven just like a quality home-cooked meal.
These new Jamie Oliver products match this trend perfectly, they provide meals that feel home-cooked, are packed with flavour and are quick and easy for mid-week meals. It's great to see them performing well in our stores already."
The meals are all pre-prepared with the necessary herbs, spices and marinades so consumers simply put them in the oven for quick and delicious meal solutions. The three varieties available at Budgens are Jamie Oliver Tomato and Parmesan, Jamie Oliver American Style BBQ Chicken and Piri Piri Chicken. The most popular seller since the launch is American Style BBQ Chicken, a spatchcock British chicken in a punchy chilli, orange and fennel marinade which retails at £6.50.
Jamie Oliver's range has been introduced as part Budgens' commitment to offering more premium ready-to-cook solutions for customers who want excellent quality home-cooked meals, without lengthy preparation or cooking times.
