In the third quarter of 2013, Louisiana-Pacific suffered year-on-year decline in the operating result of the OSB division to US$30.2m, representing only one third of the result of US$95.4m achieved in the second quarter. The adjusted EBITDA, which had been quoted for the second quarter at US$107.7m, decreased to US$45.6m (59.7m). The deterioration in results is attributable to the considerable fall in North American OSB prices in recent months. Average OSB prices at Louisiana-Pacific in the third quarter were down on those for the second quarter by 28%, while they showed a year-on-year fall of 5%. In contrast, OSB sales volumes in the second quarter increased quarter on quarter by 10% and year on year by 15%. Divisional turnover therefore reached US$245.4m, a year-on-year improvement of 8%.
