Berry Plastics Group, a provider of value-added plastic consumer packaging and engineered materials, is set to invest $31m for new infrastructure and equipment at its four manufacturing plants in the US.
The company will also transfer existing equipment from other Berry Plastics facilities.
With this investment, the company will further optimize production and relocate manufacturing equipment at its four plants. The four plants are located in Evansville, Evansville airport, Princeton, and Richmond in Indiana.
This project will begin in early 2014 and is expected to create than 330 production jobs over the next two years at these four plants.
For this project, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) has offered a grnat of $300,000 to facilitate job skills training and $2.35m in Economic Development for Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credits.
Other grants for the company include $1.7m of 10-year Tax Phase-In on real property investment and $2.8m of Modified Schedule of Tax Abatement on personal property investment from the City of Evansville. It also received a Hiring/Training Grant of $100,000 from the city.
Berry Plastics chairman and CEO Jon Rich said: "The relocation of production equipment to Vanderburgh, Gibson, and Wayne counties from other Berry facilities supports our restructuring efforts, announced in November 2013, to optimize our manufacturing operations, maximize production efficiencies, and best service our customers."
