Halo Foods Has Confirmed Its Plans to Shut Down Its Facility Tywyn, Gwynedd in November

Snack food company Halo Foods has confirmed its plans to shut down its facility Tywyn, Gwynedd, Wales in November this year, a move which will result in 120 job losses.

This development comes after the company completed a seven-week consultation period with its employees.

The company stated that it had no option but to continue with the proposed plan to relocate to Newport, Gwent.

Halo Foods managing director Robin Williams said that the company had considered all the available options including the relocation of entire manufacturing operation to Eastern Europe.

"However, with assistance from the Welsh Government, it has been able to secure its future in Newport, South Wales where a new 25 year lease has been agreed, and a significant investment will be made to upgrade the facility," Williams added.

"There are alternative roles available for all staff at other sites and a support package will be offered to those who wish to relocate."

Halo Foods noted that it will focus on supporting the affected employees and has set up a 'support hub' in Tywyn which will remain in place until March 2014.
