Japanese carmaker Nissan is planning to recall 18,880 units of Nissan NV vans, due to a defective transmission display.

The recall affects Nissan NV vans manufactured between 20 December 2010 and 04 January 2013.

Vehicles involved in the recall have an improperly installed steering column-mounted transmission shift levers, which may display the wrong gear shift lever position that may result in the roll away of the vehicle.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) the wrong display could lead to increased risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.

The recall is expected to be started by the company on 08 April 2013, under which the company will install a transmission lever selector plate lock clip.

Earlier, the manufacturer had recalled about 392 units of the 2013 Sentra models, due to the improperly sealed fuel tank assemblies.
