Futura Foods Has Sold 44% Stake to Danish Dairy Firm Nordex Food for an Undisclosed Amount

UK-based cheese manufacturer Futura Foods has sold 44% stake to Danish dairy firm Nordex Food for an undisclosed amount, as part of its efforts to strengthen its presence and bring Nordex's into the country.

Nordex Food is a privately owned company that specializes in the production of white cheeses, which traditionally come from the countries around the Mediterranean. The company operates three dairies in Denmark, Austria and Romania that produce a wide range of white cheeses.

Futura Foods stated that the deal would allow the company to further develop the Mediterranean and white cheese segment.

The company holds a 55% share of the feta cheese market in the UK and owns Yamas! Brand of Greek and Cypriot specialty cheeses. Futura plans to expand its presence in the region by supplying its Italian cheeses to Scandinavia and take advantage of Nordex's expertise in the Middle East and the US.

Futura Foods has appointed Nordex export manager Kenneth Axen as its new managing director, replacing Neil Burchell who headed the company for two years.

Headquartered in Tetbury, UK, Futura Foods is involved in the manufacture of cheeses for food manufacturing, retail, and wholesale markets in Ireland and the UK. The company offers organic, Greek, Italian, Danish, French, Spanish, Dutch, and German cheeses, as well as butter and spreads.
