Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology, a joint venture between Daimler and BYD, has unveiled its new all-electric vehicle, DENZA, at the Auto China 2014, which is being held at Beijing in China.
The vehicle is equipped with an 86kW (115hp) all-electric engine offering maximum speed of 150kmph and 290Nm torque along with a transit range of about 300km powered by a 47.5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery.
Denza comes with flexible battery charging compatibility with household power outlet, public charging facilities or special wall boxes.
Daimler Research and Development Management Board member Thomas Weber said DENZA is first complete vehicle the company has developed with BYD outside of Germany.
"No compromises have been made to design and develop, in China, an all-electric car that raises the bar in its segment," Weber said.
The all-electric vehicle is designed with lightweight aluminium case that surrounds its lithium iron phosphate battery, which is located under the car body and features automatic disconnect option in the event of an accident.
All electric DENZA will be launched in two versions including the Lifestyle variant featuring 18-inch alloy wheels, genuine leather seats and an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen., while the Executive version has Harman-Kardon-Soundsystem, Xenon Lights with an adaptive front lighting system, and an onboard Navigation system.
Manufacturer claims that the vehicle can accommodate five passengers and has 460L trunk capacity.
