Today, ST-Ericsson confers with union representatives about the effects of upcoming job cuts as required by French and Italian law.
Legally the company is obliged to consult with unions before it takes steps which will involve job cuts.
The proposals which will be put before the unions involve transferring 1,800 ST-E employees to Ericsson, affecting sites mainly in Sweden, Germany, India and China and transferring about 950 people to STMicroelectronics mainly affecting sites in France and Italy.
