Switzerland based ABB has introduced the new Terra 53 fast charging station supporting the CCS standard.
The 50kW fast charging station is claimed to be compliant with CCS DC standards and can be used for BMW i3, Volkswagen e-up and e-Golf, as well as other CCS cars that are expected to be in the market from autumn 2013.
Scheduled for launch in the German market in summer 2013, the charger will be available with dual outlet configurations supporting both CCS and type 2 mode 3 fast AC charging along with the triple outlet version with addition of CHAdeMO.
According to the company, the Terra 53 is cloud connected and compatible with any charging network or payment & billing platform through open standards based interfaces, including the open charge point protocol (OCPP).
The services offered by the charging station include remote monitoring, pro-active maintenance and functional upgrades, while offering the tools to gather customer specific usage statistics and reports.
