German automobile manufacturer Daimler has commenced the production of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class vehicles at the Valmet Automotive's manufacturing plant at Uusikaupunki in Germany.
The move is a part of the manufacturing agreement signed by Diamler and Valmet for the production of customer vehicles, under which the companies will manufacture 100,000 vehicles at Valmet Automotive between 2013 and 2016.
Daimler Board of Management member of Manufacturing and Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars & Mercedes-Benz Vans Andreas Renschler said the company will now be able to serve high customer demand even better.
"Valmet Automotive is complementing our flexible production network of the plants in Rastatt and Kecskemet in an optimal way," Renschler added.
According to the company, the manufacturing process at the Valmet Automotive's plant in Uusikaupunki is continuously increased to accommodate the start of production, which will be adjusted to meet required output until 2016.
Additionally, the manufacturer plans to launch the compact SUV Mercedes-Benz GLA at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show scheduled to be held in Germany.
