US-based automotive supplier, Delphi Automotive, has begun construction of a new $100m diesel fuel injection manufacturing facility in Yantai, Shandong Province of China.
With operations expected to begin from late 2013, the new facility will manufacture high-precision diesel fuel injection system components for light, medium and heavy-duty common rail systems.
The facility is also expected to improve the automotive supplier's ability to supply the rising customer base in Asia and reinforce its relations with the neighbouring community.
According to China Daily, the initial phase of production from Delphi's new facility will deliver components to three Chinese clients including Great Wall Motors, the Shandong Huayuan Laidong Engine, and Yuchai Group.
Delphi claims that its diesel technology will allow the fuel injection system to offer accurate fuel quantities all through the existence of the vehicle as well as provide enhanced emissions control and acoustic performance.
The facility will also attain support from the company's existing Delphi operation in Suzhou, which will supply engine control modules.
