Nestle India’s Maggi Noodles has cleared the government approved lab tests, paving way for its retail sales this month.
All the samples of the newly manufactured batches from its plants in Nanjangud in Karnataka, Moga in Punjab and Bicholim in Goa, have been cleared by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) labs as directed by the Bombay High Court earlier this year.
With the clearance, Nestle is also working on beginning Maggi Noodles production at its two other plants Tahliwal and Pantnagar. The company said it is in talks with the Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand state governments to obtain permissions to commence manufacturing of its Maggi Noodles there.
Nestle stated that it has conducted over 3,500 tests of over 200 million packs in both national as well as international accredited laboratories.
Maggi Noodles had cleared all the tests.
Additionally, the company claims that Maggi Noodles exported from India to various nations such as the US, UK, Singapore and Australia were found to be safe for consumption.
The Swiss food giant intends to discuss with states where permissions and approvals are required to commence the production of Maggi Noodles for it to hit shelves this month.
The company has also reiterated its cooperation with Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the Indian food regulator, the state food development authorities and other stakeholders.
Last month, Nestle had begun production of Maggi Noodles at three of its plants in India and was believed to be targeting launch in November to take advantage of the festive season sales. The company had then stated that it would begin sale of Maggi Noodles only after the fresh samples have been cleared by three laboratories designated by the Bombay High Court.
