Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) has reported 87.3% rise in its sales in the US to 202,973 units in May 2012, when compared to 108,387 units sold during May 2011.
Sales at Toyota Division increased about 89% to 181,510 units , while Lexus Division sold 21,463 units marking a 74.4% rise when compared to the year-ago month.
Toyota Motor Sales Toyota Division group vice president and general manager Bob Carter said, "Our growth has been driven by the success of our new products, led by Camry and Prius family, part of the most aggressive product launch in our history."
According to the carmaker, Toyota Division's car sales have doubled to 104,422 units when compared to the same period last year, which was due to the increase in sales of its Prius, Camry and Corolla vehicles.
Toyota Division reported 72% rise in its trucks sales to 77,088 units while its hybrid sales rose 199.2% to 29,069 hybrids over the corresponding month in 2011.
Car sales at Lexus Division grew 69.4% to 9,621 units, and its trucks sales increased 78.8% to 11,842 units, when compared to the same period in 2011.
