The Bra Recyclers have partnered with Tucson Clean & Beautiful, Inc to encourage students, educators and community groups to recycle old items into art. The Re-Used Materials Becoming Art (RUMBA) showcase and competition will take place at the SAHBA Spring Home & Patio Show at the Tucson Convention Center, April 5-7, 2013.
The Bra Recyclers, a Gilbert, AZ based textile recycling company, knows firsthand how one person’s trash can become another’s treasure. The Bra Recyclers recycle gently used bras to women in need on a global scale. These bras provide encouragement and support during life’s toughest moments.
In alignment with their goals, The Bra Recyclers are encouraging creative individuals of all ages in the Phoenix and Tucson area to create art from bras or pieces of bras to be showcased at the Bra Recyclers table. The entries will be judged on creative use of the bra and re-used materials. Attendees SAHBA Home and Patio Show will vote on their favorite decorated bra on Friday and Saturday, with the winners announced on Sunday.
Elaine Birks-Mitchell, CEO of The Bra Recyclers states, “We are excited to participate in this event that will demonstrate the meaning of ‘reuse’ in a very unique way. In previous bra decorating contest we have sponsored, it’s been amazing to see the creativity of individuals who have taken a bra to new heights, including making it into a cow. This is an opportunity to not only go ‘green’ but to showcase how recycled materials can be used to inspire our artistic side.”
