Manufactured by Berry Plastics in the US, Stratos is a multi-polymer product that is said to have a stretch ration of 300% and a thickness of 11.4 micron. It was developed for the freezer industry and works in temperatures to minus 30 degrees centigrade.
Abco Kovex is the European agents for Stratos and the company’s product manager Cormac Herrity said that film targets any firm that manufactures, palletises and ships. He added that the product was the “market leader in the US”.
Last month, Abco Kovex won a Repak Award for Stratos in Ireland. The company picked up the award in the Best Packaging Prevention Initiative.
Repak is Ireland’s packaging recycling body. The scope of the sustainable packaging award covers aspects such as packaging integrity and also eco-friendly sourcing of packaging materials, increased usage of recyclates and changing to simple, more recyclable materials.
