Hyster, a materials handling equipment company, has introduced its new forklift high visibility seat belts for ICE counterbalance forklifts and Hyster Electric.
The interlock belt system can automatically disengages traction if the seat belt is unfastened while driving, and the truck will slow down and eventually come to a stop until all interlock are set again.
The Emergency Locking Retractor of the seat belt is designed for comfort, as it moves freely along with the movement of the driver.
NACCO Materials Handling Group's product marketing manager David Rowell said: "Forklift seat belt compliance can be difficult to manage, particularly when drivers are getting on and off their trucks regularly throughout the working day.
"The new red belts not only help supervisors see who is wearing seat belts and address compliance issues with operators, but Hyster has also gone a stage further.
"Operations managers can select the optional interlock system, which makes wearing the seat belt a mandatory requirement in order for the operator to start the engine."
