Vicinity Manufacturing will once again participate in the American Express Small Business Saturday initiative by offering exclusive savings on the purchase of new and additional Vicinity software licenses. The Atlanta-based independent software vendor (ISV) develops process manufacturing ERP solutions for Microsoft Dynamics. For the third consecutive year, the company will join other retailers across the nation in the November 24th Shop Small event.
Small Business Saturday is a day to support small businesses that invigorate the economy and keep communities thriving. It began in 2010 when American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help small businesses get more exposure during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. According to American Express, over 100 million people came out to shop at independently-owned small businesses during the 2011 event. Now, in its third year, Small Business Saturday will be even bigger. American Express is offering free and easy-to-use tools to help small business owners get the most out of the day and tools for consumers to show their support.
Vicinity Manufacturing hopes to raise awareness of the vital role small businesses play in financial growth and job creation. "Small businesses are the power behind our country's economic achievement," explains Brooke Webb, Director of Marketing for Vicinity Manufacturing. "The benefits of small business success not only affect our local communities, but also have an incredible impact on the U.S. economy. For example, according to a 2009 article from the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses pay around 44% of total U.S. private payroll." Ms. Webb continues, "According the same report, small businesses created at least 65% of the net new jobs in the 17 year period ending in 2009."
Webb continues by saying, "Small Business Saturday is a passion project for company. Our software customers are American manufacturers and we need manufacturing to continue to be bedrock of strength for generations to come. Manufacturing is woven into the structure of our economy: Its importance goes far beyond what happens behind the factory doors. The strength of American manufacturing carries implications for the entire economy and the well-being of all Americans."
With the help of American Express, Vicinity Manufacturing focused on promoting the Small Business Saturday event through a grassroots campaign with heavy social media exposure. Randy Smith, Vicinity Manufacturing CEO says, "The Shop Small campaign response has been astounding with over $100,000 in new software sales as a result of this promotion." Mr. Smith continues by saying, "The success of Small Business Saturday shows that consumers are buying more consciously and that is good for everyone."
